Campus News | Posted on October 15, 2023

On Saturday, Oct. 21, at 8 p.m., the Andrews University Symphony Orchestra will present its annual fall concert in the Howard Performing Arts Center on the campus of Andrews University.

The concert, themed “All American Composers,” will feature a number of classic American compositions including “Dovetail Overture” by Chicago-born composer Robert Muczynski, “Music for Orchestra” by Václav Nelhybel and “Adagio for Strings” by Samuel Barber. The orchestra will also perform “Vitality” written by Gala Flagello. The Ann-Arbor based composer will be in attendance to introduce this beautiful and engaging work, which she composed for the Aspen Conducting Academy 2022. The concert will then close with a performance of “Rhapsody in Blue” by George Gershwin, featuring—at the piano—soloist Benjamin Loenser, who is one of the winners of the 2023 Young Artists Competition.

Tickets can be purchased at howard.rogers-suleski.com. Prices are $7 for general admission and $5 for students and seniors (limit two tickets per student ID). For more information, contact the Howard Box Office at 269-471-3560.
